I got a booklet at GABF from the American Brewers Association filled with 2004 brewery statistics.. I was shocked by many of my findings!

I wanted to share this with you guys… I find it fascinating and I feel it’s important on many different levels.

First off: - Look at what it cost to be an Association member:

I don’t know… they didn’t make the cut for the 10 largest breweries in the Mountain West Region… so under (8,984 (bbls) – Left Hand) in 2004.
I think I recall Adam saying that he would be around 15,000 (bbls) by the end of 2005?????

Amazing how BIG some the names of tiny breweries can get. And well deserved I should add.

I wish I did but I only have the numbers for the Top 10 Breweries in each of the 6 regions that the American Brewers Association recognizes.

Northeast Region – Smallest of top 10 – DogFish – 20,200 (bbls)
North Central Region – Smallest of top 10 – Sprecher – 10,442 (bbls)
Pacific Northwest – Smallest of top 10- Mac & Jacks – 27,524 (bbls)
Pacific Region – Smallest of top 10 – North Coast – 17,553 (bbls)
Mountain West Region –Smallest of top 10 – Left Hand – 8,984 (bbls)
South Region – Smallest of top 10 – Real Ale – 3,256 (bbls)

If a brewery does not show up, it was not in the top 10 for it’s region or it just didn’t catch my attention, but all the most notable breweries did catch my attention.

Super neat. It would be real interesting to see those broken down just a little by beer--Like how much of Anchor is Steam, how much of NB is Fat Tire.

Would imagine that Anchor has something of a spread since Liberty does fairly well. On the tour I just took of NB my friend asked the very question - THINK he said that 70% was Fat Tire. If so, it backs up my sentiment that says beer geeks that bitch about certain beers they don’t adore should understand what bankrolls the beers they do love.
